As we departed, Auckland’s skyline gave way to green fields and shimmering waters. Flying over the Cook Strait was breathtaking, with the rugged coastline and Marlborough Sounds unfolding. After arriving, Nick and I had the chance to meet Graeme Pile, who was waiting for us at the airport to help with our luggage and get us to our ride where Vaughan was waiting patiently. After a short drive, we arrived at our accommodation, which was with one of Vaughan’s good friends. We quickly got our gear organised and prepped for our first fishing trip out of Blenheim. The weather was absolutely perfect, clear skies and calm waters, making it an ideal time to cast our lines before the sun went down.
